The excursion to the Ethnographic Open Air Museum of Latvia

The Ethnographic Open-Air Museum actually shows Latvia in miniature – there you can see 118 wooden buildings from all historical regions of Latvia-Kurzeme, Zemgale, Latgale and Vidzeme.  Alongside the Lake Jugla in the pine forest you will discover the old Latvian village, where are set peasants’ and fishermen’ farmsteads, craftsmen workshops, churches (, tavern, windmills and other buildings, built in the time period from 17th until early 20th century.

Have a travel through time to ancient Latvia, and discover how Latvians lived several centuries ago, when there was serfdom. How people managed to live in chimneyless houses, build houses using only axe as working instrument, lighten houses by wooden sticks, grind flour in hand mill, make storing boxes from birch bark and do a lot of various things using only simple instruments and nature materials.

Duration of excursion is 1,5 hours (it can be shortened or elongated according to your wishes). Price of the tour in summer season (From 1st May until 30th September) is 50 euros  (it is for all persons in group not per one person).

Price of the tour in winter season is 30 euros (from 1st October un 30th April). In winter season are opened two farm complexes in the Museum - Pesant's farmstead and fisherman's farmstead.
